The Ministry of Finance has now decided not to allow income taxpayers to apply for the APY scheme. The new order issued by FinMin will come into effect from October 1, 2022.
According to the gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Finance on August 10, any citizen who is or has been an income tax payer according to the Income Tax Act will not be eligible to join the Atal Pension Yojana from October 1, 2022.

वित्त मंत्रालय ने अब आयकरदाताओं को APY योजना के लिए आवेदन करने की अनुमति नहीं देने का निर्णय लिया है। फिनमिन द्वारा जारी किया गया नया आदेश 1 अक्टूबर, 2022 से प्रभावी होगा।
वित्त मंत्रालय की ओर से 10 अगस्त को जारी गजट नोटिफिकेशन के मुताबिक कोई भी नागरिक जो आयकर अधिनियम के तहत आयकर दाता है या रहा है, वह 1 अक्टूबर 2022 से अटल पेंशन योजना में शामिल होने का पात्र नहीं होगा।
