Options for Career for CAs

First of all, dont select based only on money that you are going to earn. There are other important aspects like

  • your Liking,
  • your requirement for Freedom,
  • Job Satisfaction,
  • your Risk Taking ability,
  • how much Pressure you can take,
  • how Hard you can Work.

  • Take all these things in consideration before zeroing down on any option.

Dont come under pressure of expectations of family. Dont subject yourself to peer pressure.

    Job in Industry

Today CAs get good package in Industry. You may get paid way more than what you can get in Practice. You need no investment or no network. You will have to work under someone so that affects your freedom. You will have to face corporate politics and need to learn skills to go to top in corporate ladder.

Many CAs start a job in a CA firm, take experience and then start their own Practice, this is also a good option.

    Job in Big 4 Firms

Its tough to get into Big 4s. Big 4s are very selective in their process. Nevertheless one can always try.

    CA Practice

Practice can be a struggle initially but in long term can pay good dividends as compared to job in Industry. Here you are your won boss, you can take decisions. You will be responsible for your own actions. There is social status which is higher than CAs in job. There is higher job satisfaction due to results being directly related to efforts. Practice seems risky proposition initially.

CA Practice can be done individually or in partnership with other members of the ICAI. Doing practice alone has its pros and cons. Today there is lot of competition. Collaboration is the new strategy.

Today partnership with non-CAs is also allowed. Chartered Accountants can enter into practice with
